Have you ever done research on your ancestry?

I am of German and Dutch decent. My family name reveals that of my ancestors, one was a composer (little known) of the Baroque era. Before I knew any of this, I have long been a fan of Baroque era music. Being a musician, I often play pieces by Bach and even improvise on them.

What ancestory do you share, and is it somehow significant in your life?

My mother's side, she heard that they were Hernhutters that came from France, but the names they know are all just Dutch. Her granddad was the Dahlia king in Baarn lol.
My dad's dad's side, a Jewish guy who got killed by a sword fish and then his brother took care of the kids. He had em with the daughter of a former slave in Surinam. His brother found Jesus and wrote a book about it and wrote hymns. That was Meyer Salomon Bromet. All these people you can easily find online. So now they say the govt should pay offspring from slaves money and ppl get mad, saying that's our tax money and our forefathers never had slaves and then I always say that they have to give me money, cause I think that's funny.

There was also a Dutch guy who sailed and rebuked the storm on sea. My dad was once always busy with it, but this is the only stuff I remember.

My mother's side is German, Germans from Russia. My father's side is Germans from Russia and Bohemian. I have researched the Bohemian side as far back as we can go or verify to 1690s. We got back less than 2 weeks ago from the Czech Republic and were able to see the towns and some of the original homes of the ancestors.

I've never really taken much interest in that. If you go back as far as my great-grandparents you're already past the bounds of my knowledge. An uncle of mine has taken an interest in the family tree and spends a lot of time in dusty rooms trying to find ancient records, but once you go past a certain time you end up with hearsay, incomplete records and things that may be correct or may be based on what people thought at the time. I think he's gone back something like 600 years, but I'm not sure if he found anything of interest to anyone other than himself.

Short version, I don't seem to come from royal bloodlines or anything.

I start to like it now.
I just saw that one was called Trientje and she was a housekeeper and one was a shepherd, one a day worker. I can buy a whole book from the side of the dad from my mother's mother. Others have done all the work. I just have to look it up. But the book is almost 100 euro. I'm not that interested lol.
