Yanny or Laurel?

Have you heard the newest debate? This time it's over a one word low quality sound clip and some people hear it say Yanny and others Laurel.

This reminds me of that thing about the dress a few months back..some people said it was blue, others were saying yellow.

It's "laurel", but some people have manipulated the recording by varying the pitch, tone, and rate of speech. It does sound like "Yanny" after repeated manipulations. I tried to listen to a news piece about it on the radio today, but the guy explaining it was so dry that I couldn't bear listening to him.
