A tornado went over our street when I was little and my mom was screaming but I had no idea what the big deal was.

Snowstorm of '79, I was held up in the Pontiac, IL armory for 3 days with about 100 other people. We were all rescued from the highway and now we were waiting for the highway department to locate our cars and tow them in. When I found my car it was in a local repair garage and it was a block of ice. I used a water hose to help melt the ice, the car started right away and I was on my way. When I returned to Chicago, I got stuck and spent another 2 days with a friend.

2015 South Indian floods in Tamil Nadu, India. We suffered very badly due to heavy rain, we had very less resources no mobile/landline connection. But it brought many people together :)

When I lived in Niagara Falls, NY, I'd have to say the Blizzard of '77. A couple dozen people died in this storm that dropped a ton of snow in the midst of 50-60 mph winds, piling snow up to 40 feet in areas and burying cars & houses. Wind chill temps were well below zero for days. Got 2 weeks off of school though! ;)

In SoCal, I'd have to say the Cedar Fire of '03. Came up against a wall of flame on our way to church that Sunday morning. Most of our church had to evacuate and one family lost their home. 15 people died in that fire, which was the largest on record until the insane fires the past two years here in California. The ash rained down for weeks.

The Flood of '82 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 80+ inches of snow melting at the same time we were getting dumped on with rain. I never knew which route to take to work due to street closures.

We missed Harvery by about 3 weeks. At least we purchased our house in an area where there was not flooding.
