In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22 This verse popped up for me today and brought to light more assurance of forgiveness at the cross because of the death of Jesus and his blood instead of doing works to try to get forgiven. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness is what it says and so how can you not agree that you are forgiven your sins when it says that Jesus shed his blood for you and you are forgiven and then you keep on working to try to get things straight with God to make amends?

The concept of being forgiven is difficult for people to really wrap their heads around. Faith is what God gives us to believe not only in Him but also the forgiveness won at the cross. If our faith were truly perfected we would not doubt. But like Thomas we do doubt that forgiveness at times and wonder if God is going to punish us. But that wrath of punishment is not for believers at our deaths (or judgment day). Those who reject the forgiveness won at the cross reject the Savior and they are the ones who damn themselves.

What Lamm said.....

Yes, I think MUCH of modern Christianity has abandon this whole truth.... notice so-called "Contemporary Music" where "blood" is never even mentioned. MUCH of Christian theology has been watered down or abandoned, replaced with relativism, individualism and a heavy-dose of Mr. Rogers-ism. "God loves ME" is about as far as many get.... In truth, there is SIN and FORGIVENESS it's messy and bloody and serious. Christian theology is humbling.

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace and Romans 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

Oh lookie there, no works except Jesus alone.
