We often see Israel's scribes joined with the blind Pharisees which want to kill Lord Jesus at His 1st coming. Who were they? Below tells us their true origin, and it was not of Israel...

1 Chron 2:55
55
And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
KJV

Gen 15:18-21
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The
Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites."
KJV

Per the above, we learn that the "Kenites" were a people dwelling among the nations of the lands which God promised to Abram. They were pagan foreigners, not of the children of Israel. But how did they creep in among the children of Israel and wind up as Israel's scribes?

Judg 1:16
16 And
the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
KJV

Many of the Kenites in the time of Moses migrated into the tribe of Judah, and would become converted Jews following the Jew's religion. Thus the scribes of Israel being of the Kenite peoples.

Some try to claim Moses' father-in-law was one of the Kenites, but we know he wasn't, because of Numbers 10:29 which shows Moses' father-in-law as a Midianite.

Likewise with the children of Edom, when God commanded Israel to destroy Edom, many of the sons of Esau (Edom) began to live in Judea and converted to Judaism becoming Jews.

So truly today, it is very difficult to discover who are true Jews born of the actual seed of Israel compared to converts to Judaism throughout history. Thus many of the "house of Judah" today are actually "tares" and crept in unawares ordained to working against Christ Jesus. But God can forgive them too, IF... they will convert to Him through His Son Jesus Christ and refute their old ways.
