I named our pets. The cats are Gracie and Ruthie. They are from the same litter and wanted something that would go together without being cliche. The dog is Jazzy. Because she is cute mainly and its seemed to fit.

All of my "zoo crew" babies are rescues. I chose their names for different reasons:

1) Midnight - My horse is black.
2) Kooka (Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot) - First word she said. I don't know where she heard it but it sounded like a good name.
3) Miss Piggy - She's a Pot-bellied pig.
4) Lexie & Louie - My two Miniature Pinschers.
5) Snatch - Maine Coon cat. She will steal anything that's not nailed down and hide it under the cushion of her cat bed. They only good thing is that if I'm missing something, I know where to look.

My cat was previously my neighbor's cat, which wasn't happy with them (likely because of 2 dogs, young kids) and adopted me. They had given her a horrible name in my opinion - one that indicated she was some type of mooch to tolerate. She's not anything of the sort, for many weeks she continually tried to impress me with caught mice/rats/birds as thanks for feeding and providing her shelter. Eventually she realized I'm not interested and am much more interested in having a friend to look after and occasionally snuggle.

I named her "Shadow", as her coat is mostly black. The neighbor asked if I named her that because she follows me around everywhere - which isn't true all of the time. She does like it when I'm outside though and we have hang out time.
