Anyone buy a lottery ticket?

A bunch of people at work went in on tickets and my husband participated but I haven't bought any at all.

I didn't buy one, but a friend of mine did. Someone in the line ahead of him bought 48 dollars worth.

I stopped playing lotteries years ago. The odds aren't good enough to make it worthwhile.

When the UK's national lottery was launched the chances of hitting the jackpot were 1 in about 14 million. If you matched all six numbers you got a share of the jackpot prize (usually only one person did but it was surprisingly common that it was shared). When it launched the jackpot was about 7 million pounds for a 1 pound stake. So the jackpot is about half what you're really want it to be, given the odds. Over the years the jackpot has declined as people have lost interest but the operators still put the price up.

With an estimated $1.3bn jackpot I'd say the odds are worth a punt.

Might as well buy the ticket in the last half hour or so. The odds are such that buying a ticket now means you're more likely to die by Wednesday than win the jackpot.

I used to play too much lottery for my income many many years ago and just stopped playing altogether. Once in a rare while I will buy a ticket.

We ended up driving our daughter back to college and didn't buy any. I haven't even had a chance to listen to the news to hear if anyone won?

There is no way anyone could be an anonymous winner at this point!

As goals go being hit by an asteroid is more easily achievable than winning the powerball.

Turning $2 into $1,200,000,000 overnight with no effort would be nice.

I would love to be able to repay all the money my former church borrowed for their building project and not even notice the money was gone. It would also be good to help a few friends and family members. One good friend could really use a fresh financial start.

Just to be clear, I'd spend some on myself and my wife as well. I just don't need a 10 figure bank balance to find a lifestyle I'd enjoy.
