Do you plan to buy a new smartphone anytime soon? Do you have a particular brand and model in mind? Those foldable ones seem nice, in my opinion. I wish I could get the Huawei or the Samsung one.

Mine is only about 18 months old. Chances are I'll replace it in 3-4 years, assuming it keeps working that long.

The only time I've replaced a phone before it was more or less worn out was when I wanted to switch providers, the new provider didn't work with my phone, and the savings on offer were sufficient that I was willing to more or less write off a 6-month-old phone. I still have it, I just use it with a spare SIM on a non-contract basis. It's handy to have a spare phone for visitors from abroad to use.

I usually buy phones when i see a new interesting model coming up. But now i am settled with my iPhone and my next purchase will be done if my phone gets lost or damaged. Until then i am going to keep using it.

I tried getting a new phone at one time but that one didn't work out so I returned it and bought a new battery for my old one and then found out that my old one had been caught up in a loop for updating Google Play which was the main reason that the battery wouldn't last for more than half a day. So I have had this phone now for about 6 years. I would like a phone with a camera that has a better zoom on it since this one isn't very good and we have a lot of wildlife out in the back field that I want to capture pics of. I just don't want to go through the hassle or a new phone and trying to get the settings how I like it.

I will purchase a new smartphone once my old one no longer works or partly stops working. I still the iPhone 6, and it's in perfect running condition. I can't warrant spending 1000's dollars on the latest gadget if something is still fit for purpose

You know you can get a smartphone for less than $1000, right? When my wife and I switched providers our new phones were $300 each and the provider gave us 24 months of interest-free credit to buy them. It just added $25/mo to our bill for two years. Once the phones were paid off that extra payment automatically disappeared from our bill each month.

ETA: I just looked at my provider and found you can get a brand new smartphone, albeit not exactly a top-of-the-range model, for $99. They had one model on a limited term offer for $49.

I have only had my most recent one for about 6 months so am not looking for another one until this one wears out or quits working properly. Hopefully not for a couple of more years yet.
