Did it begin at the birth of Jesus, or at the death of Jesus?

“Testament” means Covenant or Agreement, so the question is when did the NEW Covenant begin (and replace the Old Covenant)?

Matthew 9, Mark 2 and Luke 5 …

  • [Matthew 9:2 NASB95] 2 And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven."
  • [Mark 2:5 NASB95] 5 And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
  • [Luke 5:20 NASB95] 20 Seeing their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."

Christ began to forgive sin without the need for an animal sacrifice to “fill the gap”, but on His authority.

How about this?

“For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood.”
-Hebrews 9:16-18
