My husband and I used to work at the same company and even though I was an Admin Assistant I was also considered a mini-tech person because I knew a lot of what was going on through my husband. Soon they'll be upgrading to Windows 10. I see this as being a nightmare for the entire site!

What are some ways that people learn how to use a new operating system and still be productive at work? I am not returning there to help them out no matter how much they beg!

Upgrades are always a pain. But, they are necessary growing pains. I cannot answer your question Lam, but I feel for the staff that has to learn the new operating system.

At work, we have techs. They live and breathe this stuff and seem to have some sixth sense about all things computer (and generally technical). I have NO knowledge of stuff - and the techs admire and appreciate this VERY much.... because I call on them before I try to address it and make it worse. I work with scientists and engineers.... and they tend to believe THEY can solve any tech problems so the real tech people post signs on almost everything: DON'T TOUCH! NOT WORKING THE WAY YOU WANT? LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! WALK AWAY!!! CALL TECH SUPPORT."

My husband is one of 2 on site tech guys. There are over 400 users between 2 buildings so it can be hectic for them. A lot of the users turn to the Project Admins for help on how to use the systems and software. I loved helping them out but I don't know if the other Admins are up to date once this upgrade rolls through. I have no idea what the mother office has in store but if it's like any other roll out it will be insufficient. Plus there are users from other countries and the communication because of language barriers can be frustrating! I used to say, just point and I'll figure out what you want to know LOL
