Saw this question in a video comment

The creator of the video responded with "a day for us is like a thousand years to God" and that it's simply our "misunderstanding"..
the fellow responded and expressed his furthered confusion and frustration with biblical "riddles" and the creator of the video never responded back... anyway I tossed in my two pennies

"Paul believed Christ would likely return in his lifetime, it wasn't a misunderstanding. Jesus also spoke to His disciples regarding certain signs that shall come to pass in the end days so was Jesus lying to them?
Paul tells us of a few certain men that were heretical in his time for they were teaching that the resurrection had already taken place yet he maintained an attitude that it is to be expected at any moment, so be prepared.
John's revelation agrees that we maintain vigilance for no man knoweth the hour of that great and terrible day, not even the Son, but Our Father alone.
So although Jesus knew what was going to befall Him and what must be done according to the will of God the Father, He couldn't distinguish the exact timing of the final Judgment whether it be just after the ascension or a thousand years later etc.. he did however give us and His disciples signs of the end times... Acts tells us that the end times begun after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.. John reveals to the 7 Churches what was to come "soon" and what to expect, however since no man knoweth the hour and time we likewise cannot preach that the time has passed, it's heretical..
Point is nobody knows when except the Father but we do know it's close and imminent, some expect a rapture before and some after the tribulation but why does it matter? Be prepared, only the Father knows"

The Kingdom is at hand!

....

I've also asked this question here in the past so..
How do you respond to this question?

that's very true that we should live in such a way that we are not ashamed when he does come. Paul often said to live in a manner worthy of your calling

When I think about God's timing I can't help reflect on the verse that speaks of when Jesus was born. Think about how long the Israelites/Jews had to wait for the Messiah to come?

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

When I look at that verse I think also of it having to be the fullness of time to come before Jesus returns. It's not something we're privy to.

Even before that with man's exile from the garden up to Moses! Israelites hadn't even come on the scene yet and no Holy laws were written.
Cain was marked by God to wander in a lawless world protecting him from any legal sentencing for any crime he committed, God was Judge of good and evil in the garden of Eden and all WAS "good" until man disobeyed... it took a global wipe out and a destruction of the tower of Babel before Mosaic law even took place!

I often wonder whether people get too caught up with ideas of how The End in an eschatological sense will come, to the point they potentially overlook the notion that The End in a personal sense may (will?) come first.

At some point we will meet our maker. That may be because we die as individuals, and of course sooner or later one group of people will be the ones who find out for sure just what the Revelation was talking about. Maybe that will be us, maybe it won't. If Jesus returns, as a thief in the night, will we be ready or will we be rushing to try and cover up what we were doing and trying to figure out how to say "it's not what it looks like" in a way that's theologically valid? At the same time if something unexpected ends our life earlier than anyone expected will we have much to say about what we did with the time we were given? I recently read quite a challenging daily devotional that mentioned a couple who retired early and spent their lives walking the beach collecting shells - as the article said it's easy to see how it might be a bit awkward saying to Jesus "hey, look at these cool shells we gathered". It's certainly a challenge to spend less time worrying about my own comforts and more time worrying about the needs of other people out there.
