What small upgrade made a huge difference at your house?

I upgraded to soft close cabinets and toilet seats. Now I don't have to worry if I left kitchen cabinets open or the toilet seat up.

A window air conditioning unit made a huge difference compared to no air conditioning.

Blowing insulation into wall cavities made the house much warmer through the winter and saved a lot of money in heating. It cost me $25 to rent the blower and $100 for two bags of insulation. I reckon it paid for itself in a single month, and the benefits are ongoing.

It's remarkable what a difference a ceiling fan can make. In the summer they can help move the cool air from the air conditioning around, and in the winter they stop the warm air from rising to the ceiling and staying there. I have six of them in my house and another four in the basement ready to fit when I get other rooms finished.

When I first moved in, I painted all the trim the same color white since the house had 3 different whites. It really made it look complete.

We put in ADA height toilets. A lot less stress on my knees has been worth it
