jack of all trades or master of one and why?
Depends on the context.
If you're going to be a brain surgeon it's probably better to be a master of brain surgery than being reasonably good at a whole load of things. When it comes to regular living I think it's probably better to be able to turn your hand to many different things than be constantly at the mercy of the people who charge to do every little thing around the house.
Personally I'm glad to be able to do a wide range of things in the house. Otherwise I shudder to think how much it would have cost me over the years to have minor repairs done by someone else, and how much time I'd have been waiting with annoying things not working until whoever finally showed up to do the repair. That's before even considering the question of whether the person you pay to do the job actually does a good job or not.
