What does one do when one's national leader is a lemon?
What if he/she is the leader of the political party you prefer to support?
Depends on what country one lives in.... and what is the political processes in place.
In the USA, we have no NATIONAL process of recall (some states do but not the national government). So..... a very unpopular president remains in place for the duration of his term (terms for US executives are fairly short, just 4 years). He will likely find himself impotent, especially if his own party has ceased to support him.
Now, we do have a process for impeachment.... but theoretically, this is for being a criminal not simply for being a "lemon." It's happened twice - last to Bill Clinton. An impeached president MAY then be removed from office, but it's not automatic (and it only happened in one of the two cases of impeachment).
Presidents ebb and flow in popularity - by the general public, by congress, and by their own party. While it tends to effect their political power and influence, our government is not set up so as to permit the chaos of changing leaders as can happen under other systems: it simply is set up differently.
