What does 'new birth' mean?

The new birth is from above "anothen" which means that God takes the Old Adam in us and creates us anew.

born again.
Here's my 2¢ worth. (Caveat Lector)
Well; for sure the new birth isn't speaking of a liturgical ritual because plenty of
verses testify to it as a miraculous act of the hand of God whereby folks are given
a new beginning.
● 2Cor 5:17 . . If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation
● Gal 6:15 . . For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new
creation.
● Eph 2:10 . .We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
● Eph 4:24 . . Put on the new man, created to be like God
● Col 3:9-10 . . You have put on the new man, which is being renewed in
knowledge in the image of its creator.
I've actually had someone tell me that they don't need a new beginning because
they're satisfied with themselves just as they are. Well; I sympathize, but the fact
is, the birth is required rather than optional.
● John 3:7 . . .You must be born again.
