I know a lot of people travel for thanksgiving holiday and shop. What are you doing for Thanksgiving. My daughter and her boyfriend are coming over to eat. My wife ordered some food to pick up for the meal so she isn't going to be cooking all day. I may watch some football. I'm not sure. Usually the Detroit Lions are playing and I don't really see the point in watching them.

We're going to the Golden Corral buffet restaurant. We aren't near family and it's too far to travel right now for us so we're staying in the area like we did last year. We found that the staff was so cheerful and the food was really good!

I like Golden Corral but my wife doesn't. The one closest to us closed last year.

The one back in our home state where we both grew up was just blah. This one really had great food so I was happily surprised! Plus, we didn't just have the turkey, dressing and cranberry option so that was really nice.

We had a pot luck at work today among those of us that didn't take the day off. it was wonderful. My coworkers can cook. Or at least they buy good food. I was stuffed like a turkey this afternoon

For the first time, my beloved and I are hosting the family get-together.... Both sets of parents, plus both of my siblings and their significant others... it will be a houseful.

We're supplying the turkey - all the rest has been "farmed out". My "job" is to get the house ready.

That’s been a stand by plan for us too some years.

IMO, Thanksgiving usually involves a special meal - but it's not ABOUT the meal but rather about the heart and relationships with God and others. Kind of like Passover for the Jews centers around a meal but it's not about the meal....

My personal experience with Thanksgiving is that it's always involved family/friends and a very predictable and traditional meal shared with them. But it's excuse to embrace and thank - God and others.

My beloved and I are pleased to host it - for the first time for us. We've finally got the house up-to-speed (it was a bit of a fixer upper when we bought it) - all new paint (inside and out), all new flooring, all new appliances in the kitchen, we resurfaced all the cabinets, put in quartz countertops and new sink and plumbing, re-did the lighting in there (replaced lowered florescent lights with 8 "can" LED'S on a dimmer), new window treatments throughout the house. It took us almost 2 years (because we didn't finance any of this but waited until we could pay cash). Nice to finally have it done! And just in time as we now focus on our "nesting" as we get ready for our son.

Happy Thanksgiving!
