IMO, Thanksgiving usually involves a special meal - but it's not ABOUT the meal but rather about the heart and relationships with God and others. Kind of like Passover for the Jews centers around a meal but it's not about the meal....
My personal experience with Thanksgiving is that it's always involved family/friends and a very predictable and traditional meal shared with them. But it's excuse to embrace and thank - God and others.
My beloved and I are pleased to host it - for the first time for us. We've finally got the house up-to-speed (it was a bit of a fixer upper when we bought it) - all new paint (inside and out), all new flooring, all new appliances in the kitchen, we resurfaced all the cabinets, put in quartz countertops and new sink and plumbing, re-did the lighting in there (replaced lowered florescent lights with 8 "can" LED'S on a dimmer), new window treatments throughout the house. It took us almost 2 years (because we didn't finance any of this but waited until we could pay cash). Nice to finally have it done! And just in time as we now focus on our "nesting" as we get ready for our son.
Happy Thanksgiving!
