Perhaps you would gain more by being introspective than defensive.

I have found that sincerely asking God to show me the truth about myself offers solutions to many of my dilemmas, and is also something that, knowing I will get an answer, is very difficult to do. It takes great courage to do this honestly, and trust in the Lord, but it also provides great rewards in terms of our relationship with him.

... and more projection. Who said I was being defensive? You responded to a point I never made, assuming it was about my own desires, and still try to flip the script on it.

I agree entirely that sincerely seeking God's will offers many solutions. The trouble is that when you want to present things as if they were black and white with no shades of gray, that doesn't sit very well with seeking God's will for my life (which may be different to God's will for your life) and processing what we both believe God might be telling us.

God might be telling you that it's OK to have that fancy car while at the same time telling me I should use the money for something else. So as to the question of whether it's a sin to have a fancy car - it's not a black or white answer, it's shades of gray. Maybe for me it's a sin. Maybe for you it feels like it would be OK but you're hesitant to go and buy it because you don't want to tie up the money on the basis of being unsure just what God is saying right now.

Some things are clear - we can quote chapter and verse against adultery for example - but other things are down to personal convictions.

So?

If you find what I say to be of any value use it, if you don't ignore it.

Why are you worried about what other people are doing and what other people are thinking?

Given someone is serving God well, they may be hated. They hated Jesus first. Christians do things that are pleasing to God.

You need to drop this "Shades of Grey" bs with the Aleister Crowley quote in your signature. THAT is what makes you look bad. That is not the standard. Jesus chastises and rebukes those he loves.
