It does.

For USA people the largest group of reregistered "voters" are the 100 million who don't bother to vote. The Democrats manage 60+ million which is 3 million more than the 60ish million that Republicans manage. But 100 million is a whole lot more than either of those groups.

1. I didn't vote for Trump and I generally am not supportive of him. But he wasn't on the ballot.


2. In "off" elections (when the president is not on the ballot), the House and Senate both tend to go to the opposition party. On average, that's 5 Senate seats and 28 House seats. There have been notable exceptions, but that's the average.


3. Many expected a huge "backlash" against the Republicans this year... the liberal press spoke of a "revolution" against Trump. That simply did not materialize - and that's the "take" from 2018. Don't expect any of the liberal press to state how wrong they were... how the "revolution" and "landslide" never materialized but that's the case. The Republicans actually GAINED seats in the Senate and lost 38 seats in the House. The Senate went opposite of the average and he House went slightly more than average. No revolution.... no protest.... no landslide...

People who don't care, don't know and thus vote ignorantly and because they will be punished if they don't, are not likely to be constructive. Democracy requires an engaged and informed electorate - not police forcing people. I believe the ABILITY to vote should be very broad but I reject police MANDATING it of people who don't care and don't know.

But I also hold to this: If one chose to not vote, they forfeit their "right" to complain.

When choosing to follow a leader they also forfeit the right to criticize or boast in achievements but rather to assimilate into said leader. That’s why John the Baptist stated the increase must be in Christ. That only comes from a narrow way technically.
