One of the major 'strong meat' teachings within God's Word that is almost completely left out of the preaching in today's Church is the Biblical fact that there 2 separate and different dimensions of existence, this earthly one we live in, and the heavenly one where God and the angels dwell, including Satan's abode of hell.
There are many, many Biblical principles that will not be understood without addressing this subject. But Hollywood and primitive superstitions have prevented many brethren from understanding it when we are supposed to know.
1. In Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 we are shown that if ever the "silver cord" is loosed, then our flesh goes back to the ground where it came from, and our 'spirit' goes back to God Who gave it. Hebrews 4:12 reveals that God created us with a soul and a spirit, and a flesh body. Some try to treat this 'spirit' of Eccl.12 like some natural force, and not what The New Testament teaches us it is.
2. In 1 Kings 17, the soul of the child there left its flesh body, and Elijah prayed to God that He would put the soul back in the child's body. That reveals our soul can be separated from our flesh.
3. In Matthew 10:28, Jesus said to not fear those who can our flesh body, but not our soul, but fear Him Who can destroy both body and soul in the "lake of fire" (geena there as "hell"). That also proves our soul can be separate from our flesh body, and that our soul is NOT made of flesh matter.
4. In Genesis 18, "three men" appear to Abraham, and he bowed down to one of them calling Him Lord. And Abraham prepared food and drink for them and they did eat. The one Abraham bowed to remained standing there talking with Abraham while the other two men were sent to get Lot out of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Genesis 19, the next chapter, we are shown "two angels" appearing to Lot, and the sodomites outside Lot's door see them as "men" and want to have sex with them. Those were the same two men which Jesus speaking with Abraham sent to Lot. This means the angelic state can... manifest upon this earth, and is with the image of 'man'. And that angelic body can eat and drink man's food. Paul even said in Hebrews 13 for us to be hospitable to strangers, because some have entertained angels unaware. They did not take on flesh bodies in order to appear to Abraham, nor to Lot and the sodomites. The body of the heavenly dimension has the image of man per Genesis 1:26-27, which is from God's Own image likeness.
5. Per 1 Peter 3, there is a 'prison' in the heavenly dimension also where the unsaved are kept. At Lord Jesus' resurrection, Peter tells us Jesus went and preached The Gospel to the "spirits in prison". The Isaiah 42:7 prophecy shows He would lead the believers out of the darkness of that heavenly prison. Peter in 1 Peter 4 says that The Gospel was preached to the dead so they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
6. Per Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5, he revealed that if our earthly house (flesh body) were suddenly dissolved, we still have another body from God, not made with hands, but eternal in the heavens. That is about our 'spirit body' that goes back to God when our flesh dies. We have 2 bodies at present, a flesh body, and then a spirit body inside the flesh body attached by a "silver cord". Like Jesus said in John 3, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of The Spirit is spirit". That's both dimensions He pointed to.
7. In 1 Corinthians 15:49-50, Apostle Paul taught that as we have borne the "image of the earthy" (flesh body), we shall also bear the "image of the heavenly" (a spiritual body of Spirit). And that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption (flesh) inherit incorruption (spirit body).
Our flesh body is for this present world earth age only, a 2nd world earth age. In the world to come when Jesus returns, all will be in their spirit body, the "image of the heavenly". This world of flesh will be over and done with.
