Is anybody else’s church doing a Trunk or Treat? This Sunday will be my first time going to one, I might volunteer at concessions or the bean bag toss, or just hang out at a trunk and hand out candy. I don’t really know anybody at my church beyond being acquaintances. A friendly acquaintance belongs to a life group that’s going to have a decorated trunk so I‘ll probably hang out with them and give out candy.
I wanted to do something Halloween-y and this is it. Fun and not gory. Plus I’ll meet more people and get to know my acquaintances better.

We’ll stay home and give out candy. I’m hearing to expect Trick-o-treaters on both Saturday & Sunday this year but I do think celebrating Halloween at your church is a great way to connect with people Hope1960.

This won’t be on Halloween but the week before. I agree, it’s a good way to meet people. Ive been involved in some things at church but I tend to be a little shy about talking to people I don’t know. I’ve recently started working on that.

I've never been to a trunk or treat. How long does it last?

Yeah, but I’ll have to be there 45 minutes to an hour before it begins.

But you'll get to have fellowship with the other members before the chaos begins :D

Yep. I’m looking forward to it. It’s supposed to be stormy, though, so we might have to move the fun inside.

Aw, that makes it less fun for the kids? Or maybe they don't care because they're getting candy either way?

They probably don’t care. It’s definitely moved indoors.

The kids didn’t seem to mind having Trunk or Treat indoors. We had TONS of kids and a fun time was had by everybody.

Did people dress up their treat area? I know some people go all out and decorate their trunks when they do it outside.

Yes. This was my first Trunk or Treat so I didn’t know what to expect, but some of the decorations were pretty elaborate. We had a camping theme and they had a tent set up, a “fire”, sticks with marshmallows, sleeping bags etc. I visualized just some crepe paper and maybe some pumpkins or something until I heard what our theme was, then I had no idea what to expect. Last estimate, we had between 1000-3000 kids participate. I’ll probably find out Sunday the final estimate.

I was surprised at how few kids were wearing masks to protect themselves from Covid. My daughter said this sounded like a Covid spreader. But I don’t know….
They had the kids/parents line up and must’ve only been letting in a certain number at a time. My church has had markers painted on the sidewalk since Covid to show where people need to stand in order to be 6’ away from each other. Whether they practiced social distancing…..I doubt it, We could’ve had it outside after all because the rain didn’t start here until it was over.
