The Epoch Times: Trump Says Pause on Asylum Decisions Will Be in Place for ‘A Long Time’
President Donald Trump said on Nov. 30 that the freeze on asylum decisions, which was imposed following the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, will likely be in place indefinitely.

His comments came after U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph B. Edlow announced that the agency has halted all asylum decisions until it can ensure that “every alien is vetted and screened to the maximum degree possible.”

When asked about how long the administration intends to pause asylum decisions, Trump said the measure has “no time limit” and could extend for “a long time.” “We don’t want those people. We have enough problems,” the president told reporters aboard Air Force One.

Trump said he was referring to “people from different countries that are not friendly to us,” and from “countries that are out of control themselves,” pointing to Somalia as one example. When asked if there is a list of countries whose nationals would face asylum restrictions in the United States, Trump referred to the 19 nations labeled by his administration as “countries of identified concern.”

“I don’t think they are all third world, but in many cases they are third world. They are not good countries. They are very crime-ridden countries,” he added. “And we frankly, don’t need their people coming into our country telling us what to do.”

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the pause after it stopped processing all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals pending further review of security and vetting protocols. For an immigrant to be eligible for asylum, the applicant must “have a fear of persecution due to their race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or their inclusion in a particular social group,” according to the Refugee Council USA.

The move came in the wake of the Nov. 26 shooting of two National Guard members, one killed and the other critically injured, near the White House, which authorities say was carried out by an Afghan national who entered the United States in September 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome, the Biden-era resettlement program launched after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump has denounced the shooting as an “act of hatred” and vowed to “permanently pause migration from all Third World countries” to allow for the U.S. system’s full recovery. He said Nov. 27 that his administration would suspend all federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens, denaturalize immigrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any foreigners deemed to be “a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western civilization.”

“These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations, including those admitted through an unauthorized and illegal autopen approval process,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation.”

Some will consider this a wise decision and others vehemently oppose it (probably to the extent of bringing the courts into the matter).

How do you feel and think about it?

Strongly support this.

As a Brit and European more broadly, my country and continent has been well and truly invaded by Muslim migrants that have frayed the fabric of our society and are causing nations to lose their identity.

Multiculturalism has well and truly failed, and this is never more evident than when people come here claiming to seek a better life or fleeing a war, but they bring the same ideology with them that created the environment they had to flee.

I sympathise with those that genuinely suffer hardship, but I am completely against Muslim migration and migration from countries whose values and beliefs are at complete odds with a broadly liberal Western democracy.

Left unchecked this long had already created issues, and it's only going to get worse. I'd go as far as saying we will almost certainly see extreme violence between those that come here and those that don't want them here, and the wider Muslim community here.

Islam is incompatible with the West.

I believe Islam intends to address that by making the West become compatible, changing it not Itself.

Yes indeed, and the people too afraid of being called 'racist' are watering the tree we'll be hung from.

They aren't even trying to be English at all?

When the USA was young, immigrants learned the language, the laws and tried their hardest to fit in. They had their own cultural neighborhoods where they could feel comfortable during their acclimation, but they weren't trying to take over the country, they just wanted a better life.

Nope, they stick to their own communities so they don't have to learn English.

It's a similar situation in other European countries too.

It's sad to say but I would put money on there being another terror attack around Christmas. German Christmas markets have been the target the past few years.

There's no plan or desire for them to assimilate, they're just here to replace us. They have more babies than us and stupidly the government just removed the two-child benefits cap, which almost entirely benefits Muslim families as Brits/white Brits have fewer than 2 on average.

It's the same here although most Americas don't realize it yet, they isolate themselves in their own communities till they reach sufficient numbers to have some political power as an unassimilated community then demand the greater society change to their views and customs instead of becoming an assimilated part of that greater society.

Eeek. Hopefully people open their eyes and determine the goals for their country. It might come to a point where they don't have any control anymore in the future.
