Brother, I have no thoughts on it. It's just a calendar. I realize not every 7.7 billion persons on our planet typically use the same one (except perhaps for international uses such as plane flights) but so what? I realize that for some time, Eastern and Western churches have used somewhat different calendars. Its just one of the differences among us; this one not significant IMO.
The Orthodox Churches often use an older calendar than that used in Western Christianity. I'm 100% okay with that. I'm just a TAD sad that often our feasts don't happen at the same time but what is, is.
Perhaps because of my Catholic roots, I have a strong since of the COMMUNITY of the Church, the "one holy catholic church," the whole family of God. And it's meaningful to me that on a given Sunday, my Lutheran church has the same Bible readings as Catholics, Anglicans, Methodist and often Reformed and Orthodox churches do.... we proclaim the same Nicene Creed (albeit translated differently and with that "and the Son" variant) ... we join in the same Lord's Prayer. We are worshiping with all the saints - on Earth and in Heaven. I appreciate that. But I DO realize there are variations. It is a diverse family.
