I'm not so sure I would think they are doing it for God, but I think people themselves believe they are doing it for their false gods.

Those times are already here in increasingly large parts of the world.

I think they will eventually include the whole world, although I'm not saying how near or far away that day might be.

He’s not opining, he’s quoting John 16:2, so if you are not sure of what he is saying I’ll point you toward scripture on the matter.

And John 16:3 states They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.

Which supports what I said.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a time when people who claim to follow the God of the Bible will do such things. It would imply they have a distorted view of God but, as the OP suggests, they may very well think they are doing it for God.

It reminds me of a quote from (I think) Paul Washer, who asks "are you doing this for God or are you doing it for yourself in God's name?"

That's much closer to the mark. But Jesus was speaking 2000 years ago about a future time that came almost immediately for those he was addressing directly, and also for himself. He was speaking of the Jews as the ones "who would put them out of their synagogues and kill them, thinking they were doing such things as an act of service to God." He was speaking of the most religious followers of God--- or so they thought of themselves. They truly thought they were "defending God" by persecuting Jesus and his followers..

The fact that they didn't really know God at all, speaks to their delusion, but not their motivation. They absolutely did NOT think they were doing these things for their false gods. They thought they were doing it for the Father. It's not even debatable.

No one who worships a false god thinks it's a false god.

why double and triple down on your original statement? It would be much more graceful to simply say you misspoke.

Bowing out.

Such sad news coming out of Minneapolis this morning, where young Christians were gunned down by a mentally-deranged transgender person while praying at a before-school service.

“There will come a time when those killing you will think they are performing a service” —-to their cause, and politics, and party.

MSM already seems to be avoiding it, but this will turn out to be (actually is) an extreme example of this which leaves nothing in doubt or hidden from sight about its cause.

Another sign of the times we are in.

If indeed the shooter was a transsexual, then in my opinion they had placed themselves as their own god, and they chose to kill because of their mental illness. I have not seen MSM reports on this yet and as of now, it's simply a rumor, yet a believable one because it wasn't too long ago there was a group of trans people who formed a death cult. What are the odds this person was a member of that group?

It’s all over X, including his manifesto and an 11 minute video of his preparations and weapons cache. He had things like “Where is your God?” and “Kill Donald Trump” written on the gun magazines.
He changed his name from Robert, to Robin a few years ago.

He was raised Catholic and he specifically targeted and carefully planned to attach these specific Catholic school children during morning Mass

That explains it because I'm not on X although the news is reporting that he recently began going by Robin in 2017. I'm not sure why they aren't calling him trans on FoxNews though, but it will eventually come out.

Yes, but the OP was talking about something in the future, so presumably he was talking about something that isn't in the distant past.
