I read a sermon this morning about the Sabbath Day and how the pastor says that in the Old Testament the Sabbath Day was given to the people as a day of rest but also as an exercise in trust. The people learned to rely on God that they will be taken care of on that one day and we see even proof of that when the people gathered a double portion of manna from the Lord so that they could survive the 7th day.
Jesus is our Sabbath rest and we are to trust in Him as the Israelites trusted God on their Sabbath Day of rest to provide for them...He provides for us. He gives us a great example as he spoke with the Pharisees and Jesus asked them if it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath. They remained silent. But yet, here's the thing...Jesus gives examples and each one is actually a reflection of Him as Savior, providing for us.
