I watched the old The Right Stuff movie remade into a multiple TV series (2020) by a joint production of Disney, Warner Bros., and National Geographic. I do not recommend it. The start titles mention that it is 'based' on true events, and the original Right Stuff movie script, and then of course adds the standard fiction disclaimer.

I was in grade school when astronaut John Glenn went up. Our teachers had the TV going in class. So I remember the early U.S. space program. I'm also ex-USAF; I was a crew chief on airplanes with more than two jet engines, and well familiar with military pilot rhetoric and their egos. They are all cocky, especially the fighter pilots. They have to be. But they are not that way to the point of hating each other, like the TV series made some of them out to be. Only a U.S. military veteran will also understand the competitive rhetoric between military branches, that it is not hatred, but just sport, like young boys competing in a game.

It's almost as if the Russian Kremlin wrote the TV script for much of this series to mock the U.S. space program, that's how it felt for me when watching it. And the rest of the parts, which was way too much, was like watching the old Days Of Our Lives daytime soap opera.
