THE LORD CHOSE ISRAEL

Isaiah 14:1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

The Lord will have mercy on Jacob after the time of trouble, the tribulation ( Deuteronomy 4:30-31).

The Lord will set Israel in the land on earth (Deuteronomy 30:5 Jeremiah 24:6-7). This is the prophetic promise of a kingdom on earth promised the believing remnant of Israel.

The strangers, which are the Gentiles, will cleave to Israel and enter the kingdom along with the believing remnant of Israel (Isaiah 56:6-8 Isaiah 60:3-5).

The name “Jacob” means “heel-catcher” which is a Hebrew euphemism for a con-man or a trickster and tends to refer to the Human side of the equation ... like the biological descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The name “Israel“ means “God rules” and tends to refer to the Spiritual side of the equation ... like the name given by a Christophany (pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament) to the man Jacob after he had struggled with God and reached the place where no trickery could work and he could only weep for a blessing from God.

The LORD will indeed have mercy on the biological children of Jacob.
The LORD did in fact choose both “God rules” (in the incarnate God the Son ... Jesus the Christ) and Israel (the children of the promise that God himself has blessed and given a new name.
The Gentile strangers were, and still are, chosen to cleave along with the chosen children of Jacob to the one and only True Israel ... Jesus, the Vine from which all life flows to every branch.

It is the God named and Chosen Israel that God has set in their own land ... a kingdom not of this world, but an ETERNAL KINGDOM with GOD at its center.
