What's the downside of keeping pets, that nobody talks about?

Cleaning up the filth they make. They ruin and eat your floor and wall paper, but for the rest they're cute and it's worth it.

What's the downside of keeping pets, that nobody talks about?

It makes going away more difficult. You need to either pay extra to board them somewhere or find someone to come in and look after them.

Of course it depends on the pet. If you have a dog/cat/rabbit etc it needs daily attention. If you have something like a Burmese python you can feed it before you go and check on it when you get back.
