I'm a registered Republican. I'm a conservative (think Limbaugh, Hannity).

I 'get' Trump. I totally get how he embodies a LOT of the anger and frustration that a lot of Americans (especially Republicans) feel about our government and our situation. And in terms of POLICY, I'm not totally against him (althought I think he goes too far and says things way, way too loosely and radically).

But I fear him. That's not too strong a word. He seems to ME an ego maniac, psychologically ... um..... not well. Those face expressions..... the way he's embracing or denouncing people PERSONALLY.... his constant emphasis on power ("energy" as he puts it).... his "flaming" of PERSONS.... it really, really makes me uncomfortable and untrusting. I feel like I'm in the presence of a Hitler (if not Huey Long), who just thinks WAY, WAY too much of self. Now, I realize.... all politicans tend to have huge egos, and anyone wishing to be president of the USA MUST think much of self... but "the Donald" IMO takes this to a level that seems .... scary. And all this stress on "trust ME" "believe ME" just seems to confirm this. ME, ME, ME, ME. POLITICALLY, I'm not too against him... it's his personality, his persona that scares me. Honestly, I don't think I could vote for him. I will not vote for Hilary but I won't vote for "the Donald" either.

And then there is his personal life. What he did to his wife. His bankruptcies. His ethics. Is THIS a man I can honor, respect? IF he can't handle his personal affairs, can he handle those of the USA? With integrity and respect? And what about his going ON and ON about where Obama was born; it just got.... absurd.

That so many of my fellow Republicans support HIM.... saddens and embarrasses me.

IF it's the "outsider" the "anti-Washington" thing (that I think is Trumps appeal), then there is Carson or Cruz. Both of which seem to be largely in agreement with his views - but neither with the SCARY persona and the ethnics and loud mouth and loose talk that seems to define "the Donald" both of whom seem to be respectable persons.

Every time I see "the Donald" (including in the debate last week), I feel VERY, VERY uncomfortable.... scared even. And amazed that he is polling so well. The "insiders" keep saying he will fade but he sure doesn't seem to be....

Am I nuts? Wrong?

Well they said Barack Obama was going to fade also. But look at where he sits today.

I only loosely count on the basis that if I had a vote in the US elections I'd most likely vote Republican.

I see Donald Trump as little more than a tub thumper and rabble rouser. From what I can see he says things that might stir up lots of support from people who feel the establishment has ignored them but are utterly useless in practice.

Building a wall along the Mexican border? Sure, why not? Except the more sophisticated criminals come in by plane or tunnel, so won't be affected.

Ban Muslims from entering the US? Sure, why not assume a few dozen nutjobs represent a billion Muslims worldwide? While he's at it why not ban men from entering because a small number of men are violent rapists?

I think the only thing I've heard him say so far that I didn't regard as tubthumping was the idea of simplifying the tax system.
