The Devil Cast Out

For some this topic is going to be hard to understand. The reason won't often be their own fault, but the fault of the deceptions caused in this world that steers away from understanding in God's Word, especially about that other dimension of existence called Heaven.

There is much confusion in the Church today about who the coming Antichrist will be. Lord Jesus actually revealed who it will be in His Book of Revelation. What better Book of His Word to show that than the very last Book of The Bible? Some of the 1st century Church fathers understood this, so this topic is not a modern idea. It is one that they understood about the Antichrist for the end of this world.

The following Scripture about the war in Heaven some are taught already happened back when Satan originally fell. In Luke 10:18, Lord Jesus said He beheld Satan as lightning fall from Heaven. So many think any later mention of Satan being cast out of Heaven to be a reference to that time of old Jesus referred to there in Luke 10.

But thinking the following Scripture was that time of old is to be deceived, because the below Scripture by Lord Jesus through His servant John reveals specific events tied to the very end of this world.

Rev 12:7-17
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

I want to draw your attention to that above phrase in red. Notice the result of that war in Heaven between Archangel Michael and that "dragon" (Satan, as shown further below), will include no more place in the heavenly dimension found for Satan and his angels. What does that mean exactly?

Some brethren do not understand about the heavenly dimension. I use the 'dimension' word because the heavenly where God and the angels live is a completely separate realm of existence from our material universe. In John 3 even Lord Jesus made a clear distinction between the two when He said, "That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of The Spirit is spirit." (John 3:6).

The heavenly is a separate realm made up of Spirit. I'm aware that some orthodox Jews instead believe that the heavenly dimension is simply up in the sky, like in the literal clouds around this earth. Not so, because even though the 'sky' realm around this earth is also called a 'heaven', it is not the same Heaven behind a veil we cannot see where God's Abode is today. So that is the 'heavenly dimension' idea I'm talking about, a whole different existence by Spirit separate from our material universe of matter.

With that said, then look at that above Rev.12:8 phrase again, "... neither was their place found any more in heaven." That means the result of that war, Satan and his angels will no longer be allowed in that heavenly realm of Spirit where God's Throne is. It means this is a very, very, very serious matter for those of us still alive upon this earth when that happens. Yet we still are not to fear, for The LORD is with us. However, this means Satan, that "dragon", is coming here, on earth, in OUR material dimension. It means we will literally 'see' him on earth among us.

Just to make sure you're not thinking about Lord Jesus looking at Apostle Peter and telling Satan to get behind Him, that is not how Satan and his angels are coming to earth. No, they are coming in plain sight, from the heavenly dimension. And God's Word gives us examples of angels appearing on this earth with the outward likeness of men (Genesis 18 & 19), so this coming event is not impossible per God's written Word. We have actually been forewarned of this coming event by Lord Jesus, per His Olivet discourse of Matthew 24:23-26.


9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

No doubt about just who that "dragon" title is about; per the above it's just another title for Satan, the devil himself. He is coming just like Lord Jesus forewarned in John 14:30. And he is bringing his angels with him when he comes to our earthly dimension.


10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

Because that is a result of Satan's future casting out of Heaven, the power of Christ coming in Heaven with Satan gone from there, that is why it also says Satan then will no longer be able to accuse us before God's Throne in Heaven. It is yet another confirmation of verse 8 above, that then there will no more be a place found in Heaven for Satan and his angels when this happens in the near future. It confirms strongly they are coming to 'our' earthly material dimension, because there are only 2 separate dimensions of existence, this earthly one, and the Heavenly one. There is no other place but here among us, literally on earth in plain sight. When Satan tempted Peter, Satan was still working from the heavenly dimension behind a veil. Not when this event happens though. And per the metaphors God gave in Ezekiel 28, He created Satan a beautiful cherub. He won't be wearing red flannel underwear and wielding a pitchfork and goatee. The deceived will think he is The Christ, and with the power to do great signs and wonders and miracles to prove it.


11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Supposedly, before one got this far in study of Revelation, they already read Revelation 6, where the above idea of those saints that are to be beheaded for The Word of God at the very end is mentioned on the 5th Seal. So there is a 2nd evidence here that this casting out of Satan and his angels is for the very end of this world, and not already past history.


12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Again, a 3rd marker that when this casting out of Satan happens, there is true joy like never before in the heavenly dimension, because Satan can no longer accuse us before God's Throne.

Woe to those who live on earth, truly, because the devil is coming to deceive the whole world, and they will worship him (except Christ's elect whose names were written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the earth - Rev.13:4-8).

That "short time", what do you think that is pointing to about the end of this world? It's about the shortened time of "great tribulation" at the very end just prior to Christ's future return. In Matthew 24:22, Lord Jesus said He shortened that time for the sake of His elect. Even in Revelation 17:10 we are told the other king not yet come (the 6th one), when he does come he will continue a "short space". That is this same idea of the devil having only a short time, the great tribulation, left to deceive the world until Lord Jesus returns.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

Again this "dragon" is another title for Satan himself. Once he is cast down to our earthly dimension, he goes specifically after the family of Christ. How? The deceived orthodox unbelieving Jews will think he is their Messiah, and will set him up in Jerusalem as such. That is the type of warning Lord Jesus was giving about the false one of Matthew 24:23-26. Same one Apostle Paul also warned us about in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 that will show up in Jerusalem for the end.

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

That period represents the 1st half of Daniel's symbolic "one week" of Daniel 9:27. That final "one week" represents a period of 7 years per the 70 weeks prophecy guidelines. In the middle of that "one week", the false one is to setup the "abomination of desolation" idol in Jerusalem, the "image of the beast" idol Lord Jesus warned us about at the end of Revelation 13.

Did you notice how The LORD changed titles there above, from speaking about the "dragon" to about that "serpent", which is still just another title for Satan? Do you think Lord Jesus is trying to get your attention so to focus... on this warning? I think so.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Still about the "dragon", or Satan. But this above "water as a flood" is a metaphor, not literal. It's actually given as a pointer back to the days of the flood of Noah's time, because of the next verse. In God's OT prophets, He also gave this 'as a flood' metaphor to Israel about the old pagan kings coming upon His people when they were rebellious.

Notice especially these waters come out of that serpent's 'mouth'. What's that point to? It points to WORDS, for that is what comes out of one's mouth. This means Satan's main method of attack for the tribulation will be deception through words, falseness. Lord Jesus did warn us to not let any man deceive us at the end in His Olivet discourse. And per Daniel 8, the king of fierce countenance that is to come will make craft prosper by his hand, and will destroy many using peace. Satan, that old serpent, the dragon, will be that coming king for the end. Thus the coming "great tribulation" is going to be a time of world peace and prosperity for the wicked and the deceived. But for those in Christ, we will be hated.


16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

There's that symbolic representation of those waters being like the flood of Noah's day. The flood waters were at their height with the ark upon them for five months per the old Hebrew calendar reckoning of 30 days for a month. That's 150 days like the Genesis Scripture revealed. Do you understand this period? Lord Jesus said to not fear that time of trial, but if we are delivered up to give a Testimony against them for Jesus, to not think beforehand what we will say, but speak what The Holy Spirit gives us to speak. Jesus said even the gainsayer will not be able to resist what The Holy Spirit will speak through us on that time near the end of the great tribulation.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

That anger by that "dragon" at Christ's seed will be because of their Witness against him for the end. That is when Satan will decided to finally go after God's people once and for all, by his armies out of the northern quarters, and that will signal the event of Christ's future coming to defeat that great army, and end this present world.
