Do you believe that there really was a day when the Earth stood still - ceased revolving on its axis? Some people call the event Joshua's long day.

Good movie! I liked the original much better, however.

The thread is not about the film. But I agree I like the 1950s film better.

Okay. Making a whole planet stop revolving on its axis and then starting it up again seems like magic but I guess a miracle may seem magical in a godly sort of way.

Of course it didn't stand still. The sun and moon stopped. Sheesh! Get your story straight. :p

One possible resource.....

Frankly, for me, these isolated "snippets" just don't get any attention from me..... We are looking at writings from LONG, LONG before any modern sense of science and I think we read such from OUR perspective and assumptions - rather than from the perspective of the writer and original audience. I just don't spend any time trying to make such "fit" a very modern science perspective.

IF I did, I'd likely opinion that this is as Joshua "SAW" it (and I don't necessarily mean that scientifically). COULD God have caused the light from the Sun and Moon to continue to shine for Joshua? Sure. Did He? I don't know. COULD God have made the whole universe "stop" for a period of time? Well, I could NEVER be so stupid as to even consider that God CAN'T do something. Do I think that's likely what happened? No. Does it matter? No.
