These climate change bills are going up elsewhere around the world around this time, not just the USA. So it appears to be a coordinated effort, especially among UN member nations.

As for the specifics, I don't know, yet. What I do believe is that these types of legislation are usually less about the so called problem and more about controlling the masses in one way or another.

As for so called "climate change" itself (formerly known as "global warming"), I don't and have never believed in the scaremongering. Anyone who understands the basics of the Carbon Cycle understands that it doesn't just accumulate in the atmosphere. Plants take it up. All plants. In fact anyone who has ever tried to grow a plant in a very enclosed space usually finds out that the growth will be stunted unless some CO2 is added (which can be done by simple fermentation in the area).

Governments love bogeymen. Bogeymen gives them excuses to take/exercise power over the masses that otherwise would never be tolerated.

Pretty much my thoughts. It always makes me laugh when people fly on a private jet to some exotic location to lecture me about not flying for my vacation. As I said to one friend, the person who takes a transatlantic trip in a private jet releases as much carbon as I'm likely to release during every single flight I'm expecting to take for the rest of my life. So the minute you get in a private jet you lose any right you may ever have had to lecture me about flying for a vacation.

That's before even considering the problems created by the so-called solutions, such as the environmental impact of disposing of batteries and the small matter that power grids can't cope with a hot summer before adding thousands of people trying to charge their cars overnight.
