The book of Hebrews speaks of better things.
Hebrews 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Jesus the Son of God, who has by himself purged sins and sits on the right hand of the Majesty on high (v1:3) is so much better than the angels.
6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
The Hebrews were told they had better things, things that accompany salvation and were being urged to go on unto perfection (v6:1) and be followers of those who inherit the promises (v6:12).
7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Jesus was made a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec (v7:17), for the Levitical priesthood and the law made nothing perfect (V7:11); but a better hope, and a better testament did.
8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
The Lord will make a better covenant, established upon better promises; for finding fault with Israel in regard to the first covenant, the days will come when he will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and Judah (v8:8).
9:23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
The heavenly things are purified with better sacrifices; Christ by his own blood entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption (v9:12).
10:34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
The Hebrews, having a better and enduring substance, were being admonished to not cast away their confidence, which had great recompence of reward (V10:35), and after doing the will of God, receive the promise (v10:36).
11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Those who died in faith were persuaded of the promises (v11:13) and sought a better country.
11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
They did not receive the promises as they had a better thing, perfection together.
12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
The Hebrews had come to mount Sion, the heavenly Jerusalem (v12:22), to the church of the firstborn (v12:23), to the blood of Christ that speaks better things.
