What is the best way to test whether or not you have "real" feelings for someone or if you are just infatuated

Depends what you mean by "real feelings". Feelings in general are pretty transitory.

If staying up all night with someone as they suffer what might tactfully be described as intestinal distress, resulting in emptying from both ends, doesn't put you off them that's probably a good sign.
