There are 7 churches mentioned in Revelations 2-3. I am wondering how you interpret them. I am aware of the fact that they were actual churches in the early church. I have heard some say that they are symbolic of the 7 ages the church goes through. Most who say this put us in the Laodicean church age. I know that 7 is a number of completeness.
Rev 2:1-7 the church in Ephesus- Jesus says they left their first love. He also commends them for their perseverance.
Revelations 2:8-11 Smyrna- a church experiencing intense persecution
Revelations 2:12-17 Pergamum- acts of immorality, holding to the teaching of Balaam.
Revelations 2:18-29- Thyatira- they tolerate the woman Jezebel. Their most recent deeds are greater than the first
Revelations 3:1-6 Sardis- their deeds are not complete.
Revelations 3:7-13- Philadelphia- before them is an open door
Revelations 3:14-22-Laodicea- the lukewarm church
