I have a tower oscillating portable heater that I use when I get really cold and don't want to mess with the thermostat for the entire house. We keep our thermostat at 64 degrees F so some mornings, it's a bit chilly in the family room where my computer is at.

This heater comes with a remote control, but we don't keep the unit plugged in, so we never use the remote.

In our previous house we would use space heaters as the house was old and drafty. This house is 9 years old built for efficiency and we don't have a need for the space heaters.

We use space heaters rather than trying to maintain the entire house at a warmer temperature. I can't remember the brand name of the main one though. There are a couple of spaces we don't use much that have water pipes in them, so we keep space heaters on permanently throughout the winter to make sure the pipes don't freeze.
