I have read that some scientists (and politicians) are saying that Hurricane Harvey is proof of global warming.

I looked at a chart for major hurricane activity here:

It's very interesting that some major happenings weren't even in this century.

The trouble with the global warming religion is that every possible observation supports the theory. If we have lots of hurricanes it's climate change, if we have few hurricanes it's climate change. If we have a brutal winter it's climate change; if we have a mild winter it's climate change. Likewise lots of rainfall is "proof" of climate change, as is a lack of rainfall. For that matter normal levels of rainfall also somehow seem to "prove" climate change.

Curiously the people who push the climate change agenda typically don't live in a manner consistent with their words. If carbon emissions are truly going to bring global devastation and cause untold damage, particularly to the developing world, how could anyone drive a car with a clear conscience? Effectively they are saying "I know this is going to kill untold millions but, you know, it's easier to drive than anything else". Unless people are willing to live like the Amish they really lose the right to bleat about carbon emissions and global warming.

I wonder if cavemen caused the ice age when they invented the wheel

I doubt global warming has anything to do with it. Probably these kinds of storms have been happening all along. We just have better ways to predict them and track them now.

It's birth pangs. I think global warning is true cause in the seventies every year you could skate on ditches, packs of snow, sometimes a meter high. My kids have had snow luckily a few years for a few weeks, but winters aren't really cold anymore like they used to be and it always gets warm in april, june now. You can lay on the beach then. Not when I was young.
There are even other insects spotted that normally couldn't live here, because it was too cold.

Maybe Trumps election was caused by global warming.... has anyone considered that?

I don't mean to "belittle" the issue (don't have scientific expertise to weigh in much) but I'm often reminded of a comedy skit I saw on TV some time ago (SNL if I remember right). The weather person said that it was going to be dark tonight. Scattered darkness would come, increasing until near complete darkness which would last through the night until it would give way to lightness - gradual at first then quite apparent. Ahha.

Another trouble with the global warming line is that nobody seems to be able to present a consistent line. Back in the 80s the talk was of the coming ice age. Then it was global warming and the earth would heat up. Then it was "climate change" and from there just about any possible observation is "proof" not only that the climate is changing but that humans are causing it. Then the people who shout the loudest about it swan around in private jets and buy oceanside property.

Something is wrong with the picture.

The way many talk you'd think his election caused global warming.
