With the raise in smartphones, of course came the raise with smart watches. I will admit that these things are extremely useful (including now that some such as the Apple Watch have cellular capabilities on their own and can act independently without a phone being nearby).

How often do you use yours (minus having it on), and what benefits has it given you as a user?

I have the Apple Watch 4. I use it to monitor cardiac issues as well as Activity. Let's put it this way. July 2019, after landing in another city/state, I was having heart palpitations that would not stop. I did a couple of the ECG strips using my watch. Did not like what I saw, called my physician at home, sent him the strips and after looking at them, he concluded a specific cardiac issue and had me go to an ER. His conclusion looking at it was correct. I was able to get the help I needed. I subsequently had a few more episodes and I can honestly say, that my watch has been a life saver.

I log my daily walk on it so I can see my metrics. Often the walk is just a walk with no particular attempts to set personal bests or anything but sometimes I'll decide to push it. I also use it to log my pulse and sleep, more out of curiosity than anything else. I've had it about 8 months now and in that time my resting pulse has dropped 9bpm.

Sometimes I consider getting a bigger and better smartwatch, it's just a matter of whether the extra money is worth it. The one I have now was something like $130. My main concern with it is that before I had it I liked to wear a regular watch and have several of them. It would be nice to be able to track steps, pulse etc with a device that isn't on my wrist, it's just hard to see how it would work without permanently wearing a chest strap or something.

I don't have a smartwatch. My phone is used instead to check the time and keep track of how many steps I complete in a day. Although, I'm actively researching into purchasing one for the convenience of reading the clock, etc.
