Many of us are used to manually or electronically signing a receipt for a credit card transaction at the cash register. But one area where your signature may no longer be mandatory is on the back of your credit card, as some card issuers these days don’t require it or even provide an area for a signature. However, many credit cards still mandate that you sign it. So if there is a blank white box on the back, take the time to insert your autograph there. Even though it’s become an outdated practice for many, it can’t hurt to sign the box just in case a merchant checks the back of your card.

I sign the back of my card but no one ever checks because it's "no contact" now due to covid.

I typically don't sign the back of my card. Nobody really looks at that anyway

I haven't signed the back mine either. One doesn't even have a place to sign.

I always sign them. It takes a moment and lasts for years. If you don't sign the card and someone steals it they can sign it themselves and make it easier for themselves to pass off as you.

Most places don't ask for signatures and even if they do ask they don't check. I just don't see why you wouldn't take a moment to protect something like a credit card, that could potentially be used as makeshift ID if someone did get their hands on it, especially if they got it by stealing a wallet that also contained something like a driving license.
