We know that the Hebrews/Jews believed that the family and community were important. Mary and Martha seemed very close and lived together, what other examples of siblings being close to we find in scripture? Joseph's brothers were close, but not with him ;)

David and Jonathan were very close, though they weren't directly related. A pastor once presented them as a homosexual couple to justify such relationships. But there is not one shred of biblical evidence to even suggest a sexual relationship between them. That pastor read into the verses an unbiblical idea from the culture around us.
