I really doubt this is a spy thing.... no country would be so STUPID as to use a big, huge, very visible (and very vulnerable) balloon for that purpose. Spying typically happens from satellites in space.

It does seem odd to choose something so obvious. It could be the kind of reverse psychology but honestly I can't help wondering what this story is supposed to distract us from seeing.

It does set a dangerous precedent. If one country is allowed, why not let others? After all, we don't want to be guilty of 'profiling', do we?
Shoot it down, we still have borders don't we?

LOL, and a little news tidbit gets out that throws a monkey wrench in the whole "satellites in space" belief...spy balloons...who would have thought, lol??

Just admit it. Say "I believe in Space and Satellites in Space that can take pictures all over world and we control them from earth....but I also believe in the need for balloons for the purposes of gathering information and for the purpose of internet delivery" - with a straight face.
