I was reading this morning about how the media had called Hunter Biden's laptop a Russian hoax, but now we find out otherwise. Should the media publicly apologize for their false news spread?

I remember reading something about the requirements relating to media corrections under English law (which obviously doesn't apply in the US, but the concept is relevant) is that if something is published about a person that is incorrect then the correction needs to be at least the same size and the same prominence as the error.

On that basis if I were the newspaper editor and posted a headline saying "Lamb eats eagles for breakfast" then my correction would need to be of a similar size and also on the front page. If I posted the same article as a minor note on page 34 then the correction could also be tucked away in a similar location.

I suspect the media will wriggle out of things, arguing that they published the quoted opinions of external experts. The experts could potentially argue that they still hold the same opinions, even if other experts are using the exact same laptop as evidence. If the experts have changed their minds they probably have no requirement to explicitly state the fact in the media.

I guess it's a good thing about opinion pieces, you can hide behind "that was my opinion at that time" forever.

Actually, it does happen, and often. Sometimes it takes years though, and especially if the truth is widely known. The reason they apologize is to maintain the illusion of America's so called corporate "free press". The apology usually takes the form of "we didn't know" or "we misinterpreted the data" or something of that sort, and that is usually the largest lie - since the people directing the mockingbird media often did know and deliberately deceived. But again, it's to keep people coming back to the same media sources.

I've learned to disengage myself from all purposeful liars - so that means I don't watch corporate media. If I do, I assume that in regards to major issues (especially those effecting world events, have large financial effects etc) that there is usually lies embedded in it.

It was for this reason I was initially highly skeptical of both the Covid narrative and the push for the clot shot. Honestly, all one had to do was look at what they were pushing from all kinds of angels - movies, pop music, etc over the years. It became very very clear that the public was being set up.
