Does anyone still wear short sleeve shirts in the winter? I always find it easier to manage unless I am wearing a dress shirt.
When I was a boy, the ONLY time I wore long pants is when I went to church (because my parents REQUIRED it). That's also the only time I wore "dress" shoes and a tie. Otherwise, it was shorts. Over 300 days a year. Even if it was cool and raining. And I only wore a shirt if I had to (and it was likely a t-shirt); there were entire days when I never put on a shirt, not once during the day.
In my science days, the company I worked for couldn't have cared less what we wore to work. So it was typically shorts but I wore a pullover but nicer shirt (no t-shirts) and once married, my wife required that while informal, I looked good.
Now I have SUITS and at times must wear that. But working in California, I usually get away with nice (long) paints, a long-sleeve dress shirt and tie (but dress shoes not needed). I have a couple of sport coats I can wear with that, if needed. I avoid the suit when I can.

But this is California where things are quite informal. And a cold winter day might be 60 degrees F.
