Something at work the other day for some reason reminded me of the song and dance "Hokey Pokey" I learned in elementary school.
After reciting the lyrics I noticed that this was basically a witches "seance", which led me to think of other ways I was introduced to paganism through organized education.

In 4th grade we had to learn and memorize the pantheon of Greek gods and goddesses, I was even assigned a random Greek god/goddess to draw! She was a fertility goddess (Venus?) and I drew her with a snake in the forrest because the story was something about her relation to nature..

Anyway, in the south Texas they didn't really push evolution on us so much, we learned a little about dinosaurs and that was it, but what are some of the things you remember from schooling that totally infringed on your understanding of understanding Bible stories?
(I also went to Sunday school and Wednesday Catholic class growing up btw)

Yeah I never have figured out why we needed to learn about Greek and Roman mythology.

I used to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey.
But then I turned myself around.

When I was in high school, we actually had to take home a permission slip to get approval to go to the debate of Evolution vs Creation and the discussions following it in the auditorium one afternoon. I stayed home sick because parents were mad about it since it was mainly a Catholic town.

We have options....

Home school

Online schools

Private Christian schools.

And as my wife (a credentialed public school teacher) would say: PARENTS are the primary teacher, PARENTS can be involved in the process, PARENTS can respond to what kids were taught, PARENTS can teach their values and beliefs. PARENTS need to STOP forfeiting their God-given responsibility to parent, STOP handing it all over to secular, godless government... PARENTS need to take back parenting.

Exactly, I remember thinking it was ridiculous and a waste of time, not even interesting

Wow that's really controversial for any school to put the children through that

I would just state that evolution and the big bang are just theories, I would assume Christian parents would have a difficult time telling their kids that school is wrong on these issues.
