Do any of you think that keeping Sunday as a day of rest is important?

Personally, I see that commandment as ceremonial and therefore really doesn't apply anymore, but that's not a common view (and not a Lutheran one).

I think that rest (and often that's far more emotional than physical now) is a very good thing.... but whether it needs to be for 24 straight hours (and no other) or particularly on Saturday - that I'm not a bit legalistic about. To ME, Saturday is often a busy day but with personal and family and fun stuff - so it is in a sense restful in that it's not my "job" (which can be pretty stressful). To ME, Sunday is a day for worship, family and some kicking back.

Personally, I don't believe that public worship is REQUIRED (just a really good idea) - and certainly not on any specific day of the week. Sunday makes a LOT of sense to me since Christian worship is always in light of Easter, thus the saying "Every Sunday is a little Easter, every worship is an Easter celebration."

Blessings!

One in seven.... That is the rule I try to go by. Still do stuff on that one day though just not my standard work for pay type stuff. It is clear from the teachings of the Christ that one isn't to repent of good because it is the Sabbath. It is also clear that it is for us/ man, and command fo5 our sake.

As far as it being Sunday specifically? Nah; Sunday is the first day of the week; not the last, and I'm not sure, but wasn't a different sort of calender in use during the physical manifestation of the Spirit of GOD?

peace

When I was much younger my great grandparents were very observant of the Sabbath and would cook and prepare everything the day before so they didn't even have to cook anything on Sunday. I don't personally observe the Sabbath, but I think it is important to set aside time for worship and not allow others things to take its time and place.

Would you consider doing what your grandparents did? Is the new way - the way in which Sunday (or Saturday if you are seventh day observant) is not kept as holy but only as time off from employment and some of which is set aside for public worship - working out better for you and your church?
