Paul doesn't draw a distinction between works that don't justify and works that do. Rather he repeatedly says that nothing we do is responsible for our justification.

Exactly. And Marty is correct that Paul uses Justification and Salvation interchangeable when describing the relationship between faith and works. Romans 3:28 and Ephesians 2:8-9 are excellent examples for comparison.

Poor Frank and his tuberculosis.

Pr. Cooper doubles down and takes it a step further by arguing that the 'works' referred to in Paul's writing are not just the ceremonial laws but moral laws too.

Jeremiah 17:8 …7But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is Him. 8He will be like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.

Psalm 1:3
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.

Psalm 92:12
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Proverbs 11:28
He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like foliage.

Isaiah 61:3
to provide for those who grieve in Zion--to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise in place of a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

Ezekiel 47:12
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for healing.

Too many verses sayin that the righteous shall grow and that isn't saying that they grow and that makes them righteous and that's the difference between salvation by faith and salvation by faith plus works added.
