Ok I have a month of free Amazon Prime and I need a secret Santa gift by Tuesday, she's a girl my age and she just became a church going Christian maybe a year ago so I really need recommendations for a 20 dollar gift for her.
Not sure what exactly she believes but she attends a rescue church, she has said that she is struggling to understand the bible (as we all do especially when we begin our journey with the Lord)..
She's somewhat against the Catholic church (says they focus too much on Mary)... I believe she believes in spiritual gifts such as tongues and such.. not even sure if she is trinitarian.. actually what I want her to read is about Gods loving grace.. She has anger issues and can be very stubborn but I went to school with her and she's actually very charming and funny, loves to laugh a lot but complains a lot too..
She literally works from 6am to 9am at one job and then works 10/11 am to 10pm at another most days so I know she has a difficult lifestyle and is a dedicated woman.
Any suggestions? Books? Dvds? Albums?

Maybe a nice necklace or bracelet? I have no idea but I need to order something asap lol
If not I'll just get something at the store but I really want her to gain some good knowledge of scripture and I don't want to give her anything from olstein or that one lady...
Thanks!

Well... I could suggest some Christian books that would straighten her out on Catholicism and Mary but.....

But do NOT get a necklace or bracelet or any such thing unless you are pretty sweet on her and want to advance things..... and music can get you into big trouble .... be careful.... BIG danger field there, my friend (guy to guy). Stick to a religion book or maybe a Starbucks gift box or gift card.

Good luck!

What books do you recommend for basic Q and A on scripture?
And no I'm not interested in her at all lol, I was thinking of Christian flare but on second thought it's not something I would replace the word with.
Any good commentary books?
I would really like to get her the dictionary on early Christians, it's the early bare bone teachings through letters that still apply to majority Christians even today but it's a little over my budget.

Depending on what version of the Bible she has you could consider getting her a more colloquial translation of the Bible. Something like the New Living Translation doesn't necessarily cope with a really deep study but is certainly easier to read and follow than something like the King James. Some people love the thees and thous and hithertos but some find it just bogs down their understanding of what the text is trying to say.

If your budget will stretch to an NLT with study notes and a concordance that could be a good option. If she's using the KJV and struggling, maybe consider an NIV or similar?

Thanks for all of the advice! I think I got something perfect for her.
Maybe some other time I can help answer some questions she may have, for basic bible study I recommended Les Feldick but she apparently never checked into that.. I know that she loves to color at work to pass time when it gets slow, so I'm getting her a coloring book of inspirational bible verses and map colors, that way at least she can become somewhat familiar with where these verses can be found and hopefully get involved with the context surrounding it and even more so the book all together.. She has very very poor eyesight so she can't really read (something I just remembered) so I know she'll love it.
She's asked me before to join her church but I'm just not into churches that only focus on a sentence and create a whole sermon about it, I'd like a little tradition as well, if not I can just watch that kind of stuff on tv... lol
Anyway I thank you all you have some really good ideas but like I said I had just considered her legal blindness as the reason she probably doesn't read the bible for herself.. a nice big print would do but I'm sure she has one and I hope it's not the KJV because she never grew up on KJ and it's almost like learning a new language if you aren't used to archaic phrasing.
Thanks again!
