President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday that Russia was technically ready for nuclear war and that if the U.S. sent troops to Ukraine it would be considered a significant escalation of the war.

I think Putin knows it wouldn't end well for him if he ever did start a war. But he also knows how fearful people have become, especially when the entire world kept saying that Trump would cause a nuclear war...there was so much fear from that and yet Trump was nominated for some peace awards, wasn't it? It seems to me that Biden would be the one to get us into war more than Trump at this point.

Only if he wants the wrath of NATO at his door. Some countries were admitted to NATO due to the invasion of Ukraine.

Hard to say for sure. If some of the speculation about his health being poor have any truth to them at all it's more concerning - mutually assured destruction isn't much of a deterrent to someone who faces personal destruction anyway. And if he thinks he can get away with it, facing little more opposition than a few stern words and much hand-wringing at the United Nations, there's even less to stop him.
