The church that I attend on Sunday mornings is preparing for revival services starting in October. We are praying for a movement of God in our church and community. The pastor preached on Nehemiah 8:1-10 where Ezra read from the law and the people responded. He said that the people showed up and expected God to work. They were attentive to the word and responded to the Word. They applied what they heard.
How often do we show up for church expecting God to speak to our hearts? Do we go there with the expectation that we are going to hear from God and not just a man. this may mean that we not only have a good feeling because God has renewed us, but also perhaps a conviction that something needs to change. You notice that in these verses in Nehemiah, that God convicted the people of their need to change.
