Hello All,
I come to you, an atheist, to ask that you pray for a close family friend. It would mean a lot to him to know Christians are praying for him, and in comforting him, I would appreciate it greatly as well.
He will turn 51 in October...in fact he was born exactly one year later than me. He is an ex-Marine and now works in law enforcement...or worked in law enforcement I guess I should say, at least for the time being. He is the type of man that if he knows you are planning to do some hard work, asks you when he should show up and what he should bring. He then works like a horse for as long as it takes to help with whatever it is to be done. My youngest sister's kids adore him and affectionately call him "Uncle Don." Knowing him has certainly made my life more full.
About a week ago he suddenly became paralyzed from the neck down while at work, and has been on a ventilator ever since. The doctors said if it had happened at home he would have died. At first the doctors though he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, but have since discovered he suffered a massive brain-stem stroke. All he can do now is blink his eyes and occasionally nod his head to communicate.
So, if you would please add him to your prayer lists and post to let me know, I will pass on to my sister the number of people actively praying for him so she can let him know. He is a Christian and I know this would mean so much to him. The doctors are saying the they have little hope for any kind of improvement, but I know a person's state of mind has a lot to do with this, and his state of mind would be helped to know he has your prayers.
Thank you all very much in advance.
