This is really about the "mechanics" of making posts. If I start to respond to a post, then decide "no, forget it...", I don't see a way to "cancel" that. Whenever I go back to the thread, the post I was responding to will always show up.

The software is auto saving a draft for you. Sometimes that's helpful and sometimes not so much. To delete that draft you'll click on the icon that looks like a floppy disk and choose Delete Draft. It will light up green and then when you leave the page and come back your draft will be gone.
